What is Open Interest?

Rising open interest can indicate growing participation and conviction in a market trend.

It is different from trading volume, which measures the number of contracts traded during a specific period.

Example of Open Interest

If 10,000 futures contracts remain open at the end of the day, the open interest for that contract is 10,000.
