Dealing Desk Definition

A dealing desk is a broker execution model where client orders are processed internally rather than sent directly to external liquidity providers.

Back to Glossary

What is a Dealing Desk?

Dealing desk brokers may take the opposite side of a client's trade, which is a common structure in CFD trading.

This differs from a no-dealing-desk model, where orders are routed directly to the interbank or liquidity provider market.

Example of Dealing Desk

A broker that fills a client's CFD order from its own book, rather than passing it to an external provider, is operating a dealing desk model.
