Global Markets

(A) Precious Metals

Gold: $4,189.84/oz (+0.79%)

Gold rose 0.79%, supported by softer U.S. inflation and reduced expectations for an October Fed rate hike. A stronger dollar and the 10-year Treasury yield near 5.30% limited gains.

Silver: $61.38/oz (+1.58%)

Silver gained 1.58%, helped by lower near-term Fed tightening expectations and renewed precious-metals demand. Dollar strength and elevated bond yields capped the upside.

(B) Energy

Brent Crude: $97.13/bbl (-0.92%)

Brent fell 0.92%, pressured by recovering Gulf exports, a 922,000-barrel rise in U.S. crude inventories and easing geopolitical risk around U.S.-Iran talks.

(C) FX

DXY: 101.58 (+0.13%)

The dollar rose 0.13%, supported by higher U.S. Treasury yields, even as softer inflation reduced expectations for an October Fed hike.

USD/JPY: 158.29 (+0.54%)

USD/JPY gained 0.54% on broad dollar strength and higher U.S. yields. Intervention concerns and expectations for further BOJ tightening limited gains.

EUR/USD: 1.1317 (-0.11%)

EUR/USD fell 0.11%, pressured by a stronger dollar, elevated yields and concerns over European debt and energy costs.

GBP/USD: 1.32495 (-0.10%)

GBP/USD declined 0.10%, mainly due to dollar strength and elevated U.S. Treasury yields.
